Feeding foals

Who feeds their foals ie creep feed etc?

What age do you start and what motivates you to do so ? my 10 day old colt is starting to eat hay now just wondered if I shouldgive him a little more or even if he would eat mums feed ? D&H Mare and youngstock mix

Any help, experiance or comments appreciated

I wouldnt even dream of feeding him until hes weaned, unless of course he isnt doing so well off mums milk. And even then id only feed milk pellets or similar, at ten days his gut is not well developed enough to be digesting things like mix.
Just leave him be, mum will provide everything he needs in her milk

Mine is nearly 4 months and is still snatching a mouthful from the side of mum's bucket and then getting very bored.

Foals don't need extra feed, you're setting them up for joint problems for life if you do!

Exactly!! If Mum is doing him properly then they need nothing more than Mum and Dr Green!

Piper loves his mums food, but he prefers standing in the trug, knocking it over and then climbing on her while she is trying to eat it. I'm glad hes not my child!
