Not sure about any one else but I feel overwhelmed with the amount of choice out there, and not sure if I am over loading in terms of feed variety?

Currently treating for ulcers with Abler also has
TB Base mix 500g p/d
M/linseed 500g p/d
Double handful of TB chaff three times a day
Yeasacc
Brewerst yeast
Fenugreek
Marshmallow route

just ordered Coolstance copra to add to this and also thinking about ordering Equi-Jewel as he needs to gain weight and coat is V dull at moment

any advice welcome!

Gosh, that sounds very complicated! Could you call one of the forage based feed companies for advice, they might be able to suggest a simpler set of feeding arrangements, maybe companies like Thunderbrooks or Dengie or Simple Systems? I am sure people will suggest others.
Best of luck!

The Tb base mix is linseed, rice bran, yeast plus various other mins, so you are already giving a lot of linseed and yeast so I think you are doubling up on both which may not be helping the horse and making feeding more complicated for you, adding Equijewel will just be putting another similar feed into the mix, if he is not looking good on what he is already getting I think I would want to strip back rather than keep adding randomly to the feed.
I think I would look at getting some alfalfa into him as the high oil diet is possibly not suiting him, I would probably contact a few feed companies and stick to one or two products that are designed to work together rather than mixing too many products from different sources that are not balanced or made to be fed together.

I sympathise with the hind gut woes as my tb has had ulcers (treated) and I have ongoing worries about his hindgut health. I really rate a very good probiotic - but you have to read the labels as they all have very different amounts of active ingredients in them. I went for one called Gut Balancer - cant remember who makes it. Then I decided to cut all of the other supplements out for a while as I was chopping and changing about so much and watching him for the slightest sign of an improvement - I wasn't sure what was and wasn't working. Now he is on Top Spec ulcer cubes, Top Spec chopped grass mironised linseed and feed balancer and that is all. He looks really good (still cribs, but hey,ho I guess he always will!) and he seems happy and comfortable. He also had a long break from work and on grass, and this did a lot of good for all aspects, physical and mental! I tried the copra too - I loved the smell of it and he loved the taste and it seemed to agree with him, its just easier to get TopSpec here and no need to complicate it at the moment (fingers crossed it stays that way!!)

That's a lot of different stuff .
I feed mine
Alfalfa , chopped straw , micronised linseed , chopped dried grass, speedibeet and a few oats .
Alfalfa and speedibeet are good calcium sources which is important if you dealing with ulcers alfalfa dried grass and speedibeet and the straw are all fibre sources which is important .
He gets a balancer and electrolytes and good probiotic if he's under stress they where very important for getting him right when he was not well .
The amount of course will vary according to how much work is being done and the time of year .

yes does sound like a lot however the supplements are only tea spoons and went with these as seem to be most ingredients in restore type products

Definitely not equijewel as it has soya in it.
You shouldn't need yeasacc or brewers yeast if using thunder brooks base mix as it has probiotics in. Why are you feeding fenugreek and marshmallow root?
Cool stance copra does the same as the linseed, so again you shouldn't need it. The only thing I would do it increase the chaff - depending on the size of horse they can have up to 2kg a day.
It can take a bit of time for them to put weight back on if they have suffered gut issues, so you may need to be patient.
As well as making for a very cluttered feedroom you must be spending a fortune!

I feed mine ad lib hay, a breakfast and dinner of molasses free Alfa-a, top spec ulcer kind cubes, top spec low calorie balance, magnesium and protexin acid ease. He's definitely got a much more settled tummy. I also find a handful of chaff a few minutes before schooling or allowing him to munch on hay before work helps.

My ulcer horse has ad lib hay, 20lb of haylage per day and two feeds of Alfa A Oil, a splash of speedi beet snd her ulcer guard supplement, along with a broad spectrum vitamin lick. This seems to suit us fine.

I feed speedi beet and grass nuts with linseed pro hoof and protexin gut balancer .... My tb has gone from skinny and mild colic symptoms every week and windsucking to zero of latter and nice weight....he is also turned out 24/7 so i think this helped the
Windsucking....hes not been scoped but being just out of racing id say ulcers where highly likely ... Spring he will be on adler products to try and aleviate the ulcers before spring grass comes
