Have been recommended by someone to feed Blue gelatine capsule every other day for a month or so to help with the cracks in his back feet.... am not sure whether this would be such a good idea or not? Its not really anything they would eat in the wild so would it harm him?

Seems totally pointless unless they are a foot long, you will need tons of it!

Look at one of the proprietory hoof supplements, you will get a result with those but remember you need at least 6/12 months before you really see a change, thats how long the hoof takes to grow right down.

Isn't gelatin horse's hooves etc anyway????
My farrier says lots of the hoof treatments contain elements of horse hooves themselves?

Hiya, im new here so hope im doing this okay. My section D has always suffered from crap hooves, weve tried everything over the years. We changed yards and therefore farriers last year, and were told to try gelatine - one sachet per day in his feed. I wasnt sure i wanted my horse to become an omnivore. But over the course of the year his feet have improved no end. Now, could be just a farrier change, but all my friends beasties are on it and all have better hooves. I'm sticking with the gelatine!
