Can someone help me with what I should be feeding ben hes 18hh. He is rode everyday whether it be schooling or hacking I would say its light work as he doesnt go eventing or anything, Just local shows and things.

I need to put him on something that will put a bit of weight on as the grass in fields are pretty much non existant plus are shut now anyhow.

Anyone got any ideas what to feed him, He doesnt fizz up but I Wouldnt be bothered if he had something for that extra sparkle as hes controllable.
But need a bit of topline on him, well weight allover really. He has put a bit of weight on from haylage and grass and work but he needs feed to get him to the ideal weight.

Anyone got any recommendations please? I know it wont come on over night Im not fussed about that but I now want to get him to his ideal weight and keep him like that.

Hi Vicky, you saw what Beau was like when I got him, well I swear by Topspec, he looked like a different horse after 2 months.

I started him on Spillers and Topspec actually worked out cheaper!

Plus because they get their vits from the balancer, you can up or down the quantity of cubes you feed when needed, and know Ben is still getting the RDA of vits that he needs from the balancer.

It was Pidge who recommended them to me, after seeing how fantastic her horse Pidge looked on them, I had to give it a go.

I have the email addy of a really helpful lady at Topspec who did my feedplan if you wanted it.

Vicky, Topsepc all the way girl

you've probably seen the difference in Pidge since I had him and its all down to the topspec, he even keeps his shiny coat all the way through the winter and its definately not down to grooming

seriously though try one of the TS feed balancers, I've got Pidge on the feed balancer and sis has Sunny on the leisure time feed balancer (he is a good doer) we then add others bits according to work etc. At the moment Pidge is on his fb plus a handful of alpha a, but in the winter he is on the fb, scoop of alpha a, scoop of TS cool and condition cubes and a scoop of speedi beet.
St Bernard (thanks

) is right feed them the fb and then adjust the other bits accordingly, at least this way I know the boys are getting all their minerals and vitamins and with the TS there is no need for any foot supplement either. If you email Nicola from TS she is very good with advice on what to feed and the amounts. It also doesn't work out that expensive as a bag of fb costs me £30 but lasts 33 days as I feed 600g per day (Pidge is 600kg).

Q/R
Oh thankies so much I will have to try him on that, I will pm you for the addy.
Ben has put weight on but its now needed where feed needs to come into it, I wanted to see how he would be without and then work from their.
I have heard good things about topspec so will go with them now.

Thanks for the advice guys its much appreciated.
Yes I did see the difference in both horses so I can say It hopefully will work for ben
