My horse has terrible trouble with pollen, we are surrounded by rapeseed fields. Has anyone fed local honey for headshaking caused by pollen? We're talking proper throwing his head right up in the air. I normally use a nosenet but am wondering if there is a more natural remedy...

Honey is known to be beneficial, what I find effective is Nazaleze, which is a micronized cellulose powder which acts as a barrier in the nasal passage and prevents pollen and other irritants getting further up the nasal passages to cause irritation. The equivalent for equines is Nostrilvet, again a micronized cellulose powder but double the cost. If you search on the internet you will se a study was conducted in Sweden and had positive results.

Worth a try if the head shaking is indeed a reaction to pollen, as opposed to other causes.

Hi, I used to own a horse who was diagnosed with hay fever which is very uncommon in horses, he literally refused to go near any pollinated area's and really shook his head when the pollen count was high, it got so bad sometimes he would rear to get away from the plants that were highly pollinated. We decided to try some herbal tablets called ''new era'' you can buy then in holland and barretts they are very small sugary tasting pills and i used to put a handfull in his morning feed and he would be fine then for the rest of the day, i highly recommend them. I hope this helps you. :-D
