How much ready to feed linseed can i feed a day?

I'm thinking of trying my youngster on Simple Systems Total Eclipse, and they reccomend only feeding 125g a day. This doesn't sound like very much to me. Could I feed extra instant linseed along side it?

Thanks

I wouldn't use TE in the first place though, it cannot match any quality feed balancer, or vit/min supplement. It does not have a guaranteed analysis and doesn't include most of the things which are needed, sure someone can express that better than I have done.

You can buy micronised linseed, delivered from Charnwood Milling, for about £30 for 25 kg, and they sell Brewers Yeast way cheaper than SS as well.

Oooh, not seen micronised linseed before! I've always used the SS stuff.

Do you feed it as it is or does it have to be soaked? And (I know this sounds odd) is it a powder or a granule? Need to know for oldie who has few molars left and struggles with granular feeds.

Sorry Three, didnt mean to!

Air 78- it depends on the amount of linseed in the 125g. If its only 25g then yes, you could feed more. If its 100g linseed and 25g of the other stuff then no, thats enough.

I've previously though the same as you, as they only published ingredients; But they have now published a nutritional profile, and I'm happy with the levels compared to the stud balancer I've been feeding her for the past two years. In fact it's much higher in oil, so I'm hoping to drop the additional oil I already feed......... and by my calculations, I should be halving my 'balancer' bill

I give the nutritional profile of any feed I give to youngstock a lot of concideration, but I think at two and a half years old, on a well grown youngster with no growth defects, I can 'risk' feeding this product

That's fine if you are happy with it, but I think it has seaweed in it, I won't feed that to in foal mares and I am unsure how anything containing seaweed can possibly be 110% consistent batch after batch as the seaweed will vary according to where harvested and when.

I originally fed TE to my two, but also topped up with extra linseed for showing and then extra BY for SI.

I now feed linseed, BOSS and brewyers yeast - but I do get the linseed and BY from charnwood as it is far cheaper and having looked at the analysis of the two companies, just about identical.

For me feeding the three things I do as I do works best and is a lot cheaper than TE. If I had one horse that did not need extra BY and linseed then I would have stuck with the TE.
