Is it safe to feed a lamb bone to a dog? I know it's a big no-no for chicken bones but wondering about lamb (as we have a rather nice marrow-boney ball and socket one here that I think madam would rather like!!) ;@)

Thanks!!

Eh. :p

Any raw bones are totally fine, with the possible exception of the biggest beef bones which can be tooth-crackingly hard. I wouldn't feed a cooked bone of any size.

Any raw bones or carcasses are fine as naturally they are somewhat flexible and rubbery (Compared to cooked) - its when they've been cooked they become brittle and tend to splinter = big trouble (& vets bill!) :)

Thanks guys - unfortunately this one is left over from sunday roast so is a cooked one - I didn't know that they should be raw not cooked (she usually only gets the ones from the feed shop). Looks like just superdog and gravy for Pips this evening!!!!

Can't see a problem with scooping the marrow out of it (apart from it being less fun for our canine friends!) but I've never come across it myself....

Sorry Pips, looks like we ruined your fun for this evening!! :(

Ye Gods ..and I can remember our family mongrel when I was a child always being given the cooked bones of the lamb/chicken or turkey as a "treat"! Do you know he survived all that till 15 1/2 !!!!Makes me cringe.
