Feeding linseed

I feed about 120g if feeding just for the omega oil benefit not for weight. That is equal to one of those deli counter pots you get things like dips or hummous in, the smaller shallow size not the deep one.

There's a good feeding rates recommendation on the forageplus site.

From the forageplus site

For omega 3 supplementation
42 grams per 220kg of body weight daily.

Improving condition or maintaining body weight on hard keepers.

Up to 500 grams daily (500kg horse) – introduce gradually due to fat content.

1 x 50ml scoop = approx 27 grams Micronised Linseed.

1 x 75ml scoop = approx 42 grams Micronised Linseed

Thanks. That site wouldn’t open. I got a cup with but it’s for dog food. I’ll bring some home and weigh it in cup. I’m thinking I could feed up to 600 gram.

Feed the elderly and babies 300grms in winter if needed but might not be as we have a lot of foggage this year and due to the rain a thick layer of flourescent green grass under it. It might be they continue to be very restricted rather than needing calories to maintain steady weight loss as opposed to rapid loss

Mugs are different sizes!

I know what you mean! :) Had the same issue when I started feeding it to mine. I've worked out my third of a mug is roughly 100g. And that is all Fattus Cobbus gets, any more and he gains weight. He's currently just under 600kg on the tape.

Plus who's filling the mug. One livery yard i was on had more than one person making up feeds and there was quite a difference from a not quite full scoop, a level scoop and a heaped scoop and i could tell by looking who had made up the feeds that day.
