my horse is already on a half measure of Naf magic - its stops him getting anxious (as opposed to 'calming' him).

He is 16, I've just bought him off the girl i'd loaned him from, and since I expect him to pop round SJ + XC courses, sponsored rides, some endurance rides etc, I've started feeding him a joint supplement (currently its synequine - simply cos I had half a tub leftover) but i think as soon as it runs out i'm going to put him on Naf Superflex 5 star.

He was shod this morning and I asked the farriers advice on how i can improve his feet ...... he suggested a hoof-mositeriser (already have this, just frequently forget to paint it it on!) and that i might want to think about using either Naf Profeet or something called "formula for feet".

I suddendly seem to have a lot of lotions & potions to feed him ...... is it okay to mix all these? and do i really need them all ...... I mean I want to look after his joints, feet etc but is all this needed?

Farrier did suggest that if rode him less I might not need all these potions :-)

Why don't you phone up NAF and ask them, as most of your supplements seem to be supplied by them they should be able to advise you on the best way forward

I've always had the impression that mixing lots of supplements somehow diminishes their usefulness and that you might find yourself 'overloading' on one particular vitamin/mineral. Perhaps you could read the ingredients of each of the supplements you want to feed, and see if any are the same so you don't feed too much of one... if you see what I mean.

I'd say defo stick with the joint supplement, I'd give it to any horse of mine over the age of 16. Does he get anxious if not fed Magic? If not, why bother giving it to him, and if he does, but not too badly then I wouldn't bother. As for the feet, why not try being very strict with yourself and make sure you paint some on everytime you see him. If this makes a difference, then don't bother with the feet feed supplement, if it doesn't improve and you are still concerned then maybe feed the supplement? Good luck! I've spun myself into a supplement spiral too, Bramble has four!

Good idea DD. I've popped off an email to Naf

Yes he does get anxious without the Magic ... and then drops a ton of weight :-(
I am very slowly trying to cut back on the amount i give him - its down to just under half the recommended daily dose at the mo ...

I also have another horse .... who is on Naf Biotin. I seriously need to contemplate taking out shares in Naf. LOL

Hi there. if you used Formula 4 feet it would negate you having to use the Magic as it has high levels of Mag already. Joint supplement will have nothing in it that would be in the Formula 4 feet and that is you down to 2 supplements. What else do you feed? The F4F is also a full spec balancer type product so would mean if you were using a balancer yu could cut it out too!!

TBH the 3 supplements you mention won't be a problem as they are all very different, just means feeds take ages to make up.
