Hi, I’ve just bought some pink mash and for matinance it says 100g per 100kg of body weight!
I haven’t a clue with measurements, she’s a 13hh cob a bit porky.
Anyone help me out please how many scoops do I give ?

That really depends on how big your scoop is! It doesn't take long to get a quick weight from a weigh tape (more accurate than estimating by eye) and you need to know rough weight for worming anyway? Then just get some kitchen scales and see how much your scoop holds. Obviously different feeds have different densities so you need to know weight for each feed type. Once you know that you are away! Easy!

You need to find her weight, at a guess a porky 13 hander will be around 400kgs so she requires 400g per day, although that may be adding to her "porkiness"
To weigh the feed accurately you really need to use scales to get you started so you know how much is in a scoop as all feeds weigh differing amounts.

Just to add you should always introduce new feeds gradually so start off with about 50g per day and build up over 2 weeks to the full amount.

Get your average measuring cup and fill it up and tip it onto the scales.

Then get a weigh tape and measure her then take off 50kgs and that should roughly be in range of what she weighs. If you want her to lose then I’d feed 75g for every 100kg

Just how I’ve done it over the years

I'd feed less if she's porky. I used to use pink mash to mix with some chaff, and would just give 1/4 - 1/2 a small cup. That is, assuming it's just a token feed to get supplements in her?

Its incredibly ow calorie/sugar/starch so how much depends how much you are feeding. Half of one of these is roughlly 500gms dry weight

If she's a bit porky, I'd just be feeding a tiny handful and monitoring her weight. Once the weight starts coming off you can up the quantity accordingly.

If she is porky I would just feed a tiny amount to get any supplements in her. If she was mine she would likely not get fed at all but sometimes you have to because everything else is

Echo all of above, ideally should cut down feed completely if she is porky. ‘Maintenance’ is to keep them at that weight, so feed for the weight you want not the weight she is. I.e if she needs to be 400kg but she’s 450kg feed for a 400kg horse.

Pink Mash is a bit different, in that at full dose of 100gms per 100kgs it provides a dose of protexin. Its also 0.5% sugar an less than 4% starch so theres not too much worry over feeding if its for ulcer/hind gut support. But if its just for supplements then a handful swells up loads and hides supplements well
