Hi, i have a 5 week old filly who is currently living out with her mother and another foal and mare. The grazing is really bad noting there and hay not great quality at all as they are in Portugal. Just wondering what to do about feeding. I cant creep feed. Was thinking of introducing a bucket when she is 2/3 months old maybe Naff mare foal and young stock suppliement mixed with something. But don't know what to mix it with? Cant get all the great feeds that we can get in Uk. Can get prealpin, sugar beat, some sort of mix, maybe chaff. Would appreciate some help as very lost by it all. :-)

I use Dodson & Horrell's Suregrow for all youngstock and broodmares, it contains all they need. It is in pellet form, follow guidelines on bag, but start with a tiny amount and gradually increase. You can mix in a little soaked sugar beet to make it more palatable

Might be worth you speaking to someone else in your situation ie; in Portugal with no access to the feeds we can get over here - but someone who is an established, experienced breeder who knows what to feed youngstock in the conditions you have out there.

I'm in Portugal and I actually order feed from the UK. I am near Lisbon though, so I don't know if it would be an option for you to come pick up any bags - sounds like you're in the Algarve?
