Who out there feeds oats? Do you find it sends your horses loopy or goes to their heads or do you find that if they are fed in the right quantities, they are a good feed?
Izzi
I feed whole oats with speedibeet and alfalfa, with a vit/min suppliment I think they provide a well balalnced diet. Mine have kept condition all winter and have never been fizzy or unmanageable.
I do cut back considerably during the spring and autumn
I once had an extremely laid back Hunter type who had always been fed on oats previous to me owning him, so obviously I continued this. Anyway, I ran out of them once (cant quite remember why?) and he didnt have any for a couple of days, and he went loopy! Turned into a raving lunatic! As soon as I put him back o them, he was back to his old laid back self again!?!?
Bodey (my coloured below) gets oats as part of his Dobson and Horrell Competition Country Mix. It defiantly gives him more energy but he needs it as he gets worked quite a bit. Certainly doesnt send him silly just more lively. I like it!
