Feeding of pregnant mare

Hi i am new on here and could do with some advice.
I have had my mare covered and she is now just over 80 days when my vet came last week he said not to suppliment or change her food until the last 3 months. Is this right or do i need to be giving her special feed for when she comes in as at the minute she is still out on grass.

nope taht is right start feeding in the 8 month of pregnancy !! - I actually give my mare stud balancer by baileys and she is 5 months - will start adding stud cubes at 8 months !!

Ditto, mine would normally be getting fed by now though she's still out, so she's getting chaff and stud balancer instead of chaff and mix. She'll get stud mix the last 3 months and decent grass. Other than that I'll feed her totally as normal for her workload and maintainance.

Thanks. As this is the first horse i have ever owned and she had been mistreated before i got her i tend to be a bit soft with her.

I feed this, if you phone baileys they will tell you exactly how much to feed your mare according to her size/weight/workload and amount of grass/hay she is fed. You can feed it throughout the whole pregnancy without having to suppliment with anything else.

Ring up Dodson and Horrell - they'll fill you in. Ours at the stud all go on Suregrow 3months before birth.
