If you feed an oil to your horse how much do you give, and what kind?

My TB gets a good glug of Tesco's vegetable oil in feed morning and night and also gets fed black sunflower seeds. He is mega shiny and looks fantastic despite being fully clipped.

Smurf gets about a tablespoon of cod liver oil in his evening meal, I was recommended to give it to him as part of his diet to help speed up his metabolism but he also does seem to have a very shiny coat

Most oils marketed as 'vegetable oils' are actually rapeseed oil (check the label to be sure), which has a better ratio of Omega 3s to Omega 6s than sunflower oil, and is also the oil used in the pricey Equijewel supplement.
