Feel slightly ashamed to be writing this but....I am a bit under educated when it comes to feeding horses, I have been a professional groom the majority of my life and always been around horses but generally I feed what I am told to feed and thats that, I have basic knowledge but would love to hear other peoples feeding programes and the reasoning for it. I often question if I'm feeding my rather neourotic 17 year old warmblood the right diet,he predominately lives out, (comes in if the weather is horrific), only gets ridden at weekends in the winter and is a happy hack, school boy now. He has half scoop leisure mix twice a day and a scoop of apple chop twice a day, NAF biotin and NAF magic, it has been said to me in the past that I should consider exchanging the apple chop for something else as he doesnt need all that extra sugar and he should be on nuts rather then mix but I'm intrigued to hear others opionions...
