Has anyone ever tried feeding stinging nettles? I've read somewhere that their full of iron and great for sweet itch and we have lots of nettles at the mo so would be very interested in feeding them. Free too :-) and how best to dry them?

I have never 'fed' them but my horse loves eating them when they are wilting in late summer, so I would just cut them and leave them a day or two, maybe put them in the field so your horse can choose when to eat them?

My boys love them they are good for laminitics too as they are a blood cleanser. I cut them put them in a carrot bag (net bag) and hang in well ventilated place, they take a while to dry and can go mouldy if your not careful. you can also just cut them and leave them in field. Good luck

I've fed them to my horses. You can cut them down in the field and leave them to wilt and then most horses will hoover them up gratefully or you can tie them up in big bunches and hang themghetto

I often feed them to my laminitic pony, he loves them, I just pull or cut them and he picks through as he wants, they do not need drying as such they wilt very quickly. Not all horses will eat them.
