Hi all, i've read in some previous threads and elsewhere about feeding magnesium to horses.

Do any of you add magnesium to your horses feed? If so could you explain why you do this rather than a calmer and also why you feed it?

I own a mare who get's very tense and spooky when ridden out alone and have been looking into the benefits of feeding a calmer and wondered if adding magnesium would be a different option to us? I understand it can be a case of trial and error with what might work but would be interested to hear your views and personal experiences of this.
Thank you guys in advance

I feed my mare Equine American Magnitude which is a magnesium supplement all year round now. I started last April as her first season was quite bad. I think it has made her calmer especially when in season and I kept her on it through winter to stop her being quite so spooky. Its definitely worth a shot. I think its about £18.99 for a tub which lasts 6 months. :)

thanks for the reply, just realised I've probably put this in the wrong section but hey ho! Might give that a try, not too pricey so that's good, thank you
