Feeding straw?

Who still feeds straw to their hardy good doer in winter? Wish I could get mine back on it. So good to fill them up and better for his waistline! We’ve cut the hay ration as it’s much warmer here. Hampshire. Hope he drops a few kilos soon.

I do, it was recommended by previous owner’s nutritionist so I have continued. He had a hell of a lot of weight to lose when he arrived with me and no off switch, and it has definitely helped. I’m not brave enough to put him on a straw bed though as I think he’d just pig out all night!

Mine is bedded on oat straw and eats as much of it as he wants. He usually finishes his hay within an hour or so and moves on to eat the straw.
