Horse has been on box rest for 3-4months and after gradual paddock time etc. he is now being lunged/ridden lightly for 15 mins then out in a paddock 8am-4.30pm then stabled overnight.

The paddock doesn't have much grass (not able to put hay in there) and through box rest/turnout he has lost SO much muscle and a little weight, no skinny but needsa little more weight on him.

He is a 12yr old tb x id who is 80% of the time chilled out but can be very spooky and that's when he can get very strong.

What would you suggest feedwise for him? He has as much good quality hay over night as he wants.

As grazing is limited I would suggest a fibre based diet, perhaps speedibeet, hi fi, Micronized linseed for help in weight/muscle area and then a general supplement like pink powder (:

Thanks, similar to what I was thinking, just want to get as many opinions as possibe!

I would suggest a balancer with quality protein if you want to build up his muscle. Other than that, a high fibre diet as already suggested :-)
