Does anyone feed rtheir horse a slice of bread with some honey on it as a treat. Farmer mentioned it to me yesterday and said his horses loved that every other day. Sounds a nice treat and sure my girl would approve but just wondered

Used to feed bread and treacle as a treat which they love! That was a farmer trick as well and was really good if you needed to get bute down them and they wouldn't eat it in a feed! I'm sure your girl would love bread and honey.

I used to take chocolate spread sarnies to shows - my horse would raid my rucksack while I was doing my entry, and scoff the lot. She would also attempt to mug me for a bacon sarnie so I used to have to buy her a buttered barm to distract her from my lunch.

My previous ned had to have huge numbers of steroid tabs every day and he took them happily in (first) a golden syrup sarnie and when that got too sticky, (second) in a marmalade sarnie. I think the only harm it could do is it's a LOOOOOOOT of calories so would pile on the weight if fed on a regular basis!
