I've read a few threads on feeding Turmeric and I'm going to give it a go. My horse is only 7 but I have noticed when she's worked her hocks click. As I've heard it has good results for joints I thought I'd try Turmeric first. It seems everyone feeds it with Black Pepper for absorption and also oil.

What I want to know is firstly, do you pre make the mixture - 1 part Turmeric, 1 part oil and (from what I have read) 10 grinds of black pepper per feed which if you pre-made a batch up you'd then add 1 50ml scoop a day to their feed?

Secondly, what type of oil do you use? I was heading down the route of coconut, but with the winter looming it will solidify and will be hassle for the yard girls to measure out and then liquefy (we have very basic facilities) to add to feed, which lead me to olive oil - extra virgin or not?

Thanks for advice in advance :)
