Feeding Vitamin C to a COPD horse

I have used vit C in the past but not the EA one (I dont think it was around then). I used a NAF product with very high levels in.

And yes, Im sure it does work. Studies carried out have shown that the lungs of compromised horses do show a lack in vit C.

Just to add I also used a supplement from Gold Label which contained Butterbur. This plant is used routinely on mainland Europe to treat children with asthma.

Feeding vitamin C to a horse in an attempt to prevent or stop the complex allergic reaction that then gives rise to COPD/RAO is so many million miles from being any help whatsoever that it makes my head ache. Feeding vitamin C to your horse will only help him if he's suffering from a lack of vitamin C. Google MAST CELLS and ALLERGY and click on a reputable veterinary site and you'll understand how complex the chain reaction of an allergic response is and thus how difficult it can be to manage or control, especially depending on the allergen. If you do a search on this Forum there's been a recent flurry of posts about allergens as the sweet itch and pollen season kicks in. My horse has just about come to the end of the available options to help him with his severe pollen allergy but, through my wonderful equine vets, I'm in the middle of a last-hope drug trial involving a new-ish product called Cavalesse. I'm going to post here on progress, good or bad, in the hope that it might help other owners and horses in a similar position.
