Hi all, for anyone who’s horses have ulcers what is the best food that you have found for adding condition? I’ve got Ease and Excel and Dengie Alfalfa for now, but I’m just wondering what else is out there. A lot of the big brand ulcer friendly stuff seems quite pricey so I’m looking for the most cost effective way to keep weight on this winter. I should add that he can be quite fussy - he doesn’t like anything too sloppy (like mash) and also never eats all of the hay he gets overnight. Any tips on feeding horses with ulcers greatly appreciate!

Soothe and Gain from Allen & Page. I really rate it. My mare went from needing 4kgs of Veteran Vitality to half the amount of Soothe and Gain to maintain her weight. She found it very tasty too. I mixed with Readigrass.

Corn oil? It was recommended by my vet whilst horses underwent treatment and one has stayed on it since with great results- about 200ml/ day (added gradually at first). I also feed Alfa A oil and a vet recommended tummy supplement.

Corn oil has now been disproven. Linseed or rice bran is a much better option just be careful of the sugar and starch in some rice brans[/QUOTE]
