ok so I have a section d filly - 2 this time x i bought her last march as a yearling and she lived out most of the year, only came in as due to the "summer" we had, was trying to preserve my field as much as possible ..
anyway ... she wasnt very settled being in and I dont believe in cooping up youngsters if there is no reason to ...
So I moved her to another field end of october with another youngster and she has been soo much more chilled and happy!
So getting to the feeding bit - she was fed over the summer las year as not much grazing. When i turned her away she went onto cattle grazing and a field that hadnt been grazed on for over 12 months and only a crop of haylage has been taken off it.... so I havent been feeding her since she moved there. Now that the weather has gone cold etc we have just been putting hay out for them to graze on and keep warm
should i be giving her hard feed ? she hasnt dropped any weight (despite growing like wild fire!) and she is very happy and always grazing ?
