Feeding youngstock

Hi all
my first post on here so bear with me...

Just wondered what people feed their youngsters- including an overview of the horse please.

I have a 2 year old 3/4 Hanoverian, he's currently out for the summer, growing like mad (standing at around 16-16.1hh & very bum high) and is on no hard feed. Last winter as a yearling he was fed baileys stud balancer but this year he's older than the recommended age for that.

He maintains condition well (i wouldnt say he's a good doer because he doesnt get fat off grass!). His only 'issue' i would say is a dull coat through winter.

Mine is rising three and out on grass 24/7 and on nothing as the grass is very lush and he is developing a belly! Over winter he's on Dodson and Horrell ultimate balancer and chaff. I did try him on top spec all in one powder supplement earlier this year but he wouldn't eat it so we went back to D&H!

Thanks I hadn't seen the D&H one so will have a look!

Thanks tnavas for the linseed suggestion, won't be giving him stud balancer I don't think as it's only intended for up to 24 months hence I'm looking at the standard balancers 😊
 
I used to feed my youngsters (large warmbloods) A&P yearling pencils and then moved them on to a balancer with chaff and speedibeet with plenty of good hay for the winter of their second year. They were also out 24x7 over winter.
 
I took my youngster off spillers youngstock mix at 12 months as she was getting such a tiny amount there was no point. She's now 2 and over winter will be getting either speedi beet or fast fibre plus simple lucie nuts with a forageplus balancer and linseed and some simple chaff. Over summer she gets speedi beet and simple alfafa chaff plus balancer. She also gets a couple of carrots and apples a day. Stabled overnight in winter and out 24/7 in summer.

She's approx just under 16hh and a sport horse type, but actually a bit of a heinz 57... :)
 
Mine gets carrots now too but thats it....hes doing well off just grass so leaving him to it, will start feeding him around early september when the grass starts losing its goodness. Unfortunately for winter its either out 24/7 or in 24/7 for me, if hes in he will get as much hay/haylage as he'll eat and some form of balancer + carrots!
