can any help i have 5 horses who are fed hard feed once a day 3 of them are not rode at all as too young , 1 horse gets rode twice a week ( flat work 1 h ) and i have an arab who get worked 6 days a week flatwork jumping xc and rode for about 1 1/2 hrs what would you feed the arab on to keep his condition good with all the work

What feed is the arab on at the moment? Does he get adlib hay/haylage? Is he out 24/7 or stabled? Is there any reason why you can only feed once a day? What condition is he in at the moment - ideally you should be able to feel his ribs easily but not see them?

at minute he is on cherry chaff and conditioning cubes- adlib hay- stables during the night out during the day - he has only ever been fed once a day by me and previous owner - can feel his ribs but not see them,

He looks OK in that pic - however if you find he starts to lose weight with the workload he is doing, the easiest thing would be to feed more of the conditioning cubes, split into two feeds a day.

It depends on how recently that picture was taken but I'd say his condition is fine in that pic, you don't want too much condition coming into spring because it won't be long at all before the grass starts coming through.

I'm with TGM on the two feeds, my understanding is that they will benefit more from the same amount split into two feeds rather than feeding more.
