A friend of mine took my horse to break in, she did a brilliant job and honestly cant praise her enough I sent him to her on the understanding that I would sell him and she could then have the money for her time! Anyway she did a fab job and persuaded me to keep him as she had become quite attached to him, my financial situation at the time was bad but she assured me i could pay her when i had the money even if that was in next year (it was last august) anyway i decided to keep him and move my other horse to her yard to make things easier so that she could be on hand to help with my youngster if needs be. I signed a contract to say that i would pay her the money when possible and the final amount etc! Anyway following a really bad winter which i know is out of her control the yard is a mess and im really miserable! The mud is so bad my horse actually fell over in it and couldnt get up, he managed to get up eventually and then as i was opening the gate i slipped and fell he panicked and jumped over me and cantered off i managed to keep hold of my other horse and luckily he stopped but he stepped on his rope and panicked and tried to rear but his back legs slipped and he dropped down onto his bum, lots of things arent right everything is difficult due to the set up, there is no hose so i cant even wash the mud off there legs when they come in, the stables are poor, my 18hh is in a standard 12x12 stable resulting in him getting injured, the flooring is limestone which isnt properly set so i end up with stones in the bed and both stables have big holes at the front that i have to plug with hay so they dont put there foot in! I'm all up to date with my livery and after my horse falling over i decided to hand my notice in hoping if im honest to move asap as they are insisting my horses have to go into that field which im obviously not happy about! Only trouble is im not finished paying off the breaking in money, my friend is insisting i stay for the month but i just am not prepared to risk an injury to me or my horse! She says it is common practice to give a months notice! I have not signed a contract and as far as i can see i dont think i'm obliged, she is happy for me to set up a standing order for the remaining money and obviously have a proper contract drawn up to ensure that she gets all the money which im more than happy to do as i do want to pay her it all as she has done such a good job! I dont want to fall out with her at all but i do feel that my horses welfare is my priority and i just dont feel there needs are being met! I feel stuck and dont know where to turn i literally hate seeing them in the conditions they are in its really upsetting me, i have asked for ages for them to move fields but keep getting told there is only a small paddock available which again just isnt ideal at all! Thanks and sorry for long post!!
