Feel a little crap

Well not horsey but, just fed up.

Right story is that just before christmas I lost my job working with horses, it was good but the owner was a bit of a cow. There was me and another gril, who didn't get made redundant. Who told me that even if my boss offered her my old job she would not take it (even tho I was highered first!!!)

Not long after, by this I mean days she took my old job continued to tell me that she didn't work there. Ok I just said to myself never mind you'll get something else.

After about 6 months I get the job I'm in now, and have just found out that the gril that "didn't take my job" has and that my old boss after saying to me if things pick up would give me my old job back is bying a 12 horse HGV!!!!!!, sounds like things are all ok to me. The only thing that does my head in this that the business wouldn't be running so smothly if I hadn't spent 2 years setting it up!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry self centred post just a little pissed off (could do with some pick me up vibes) with this so called friend of mine, would you still be friends or just walk away?

Yeah, that really is cr*p but fairly typical IME of some people's work ethics. They say one thing to your face, then do completely the opposite.

You are DEFINITELY better off having moved on. Who needs 'friends' like that? Don't give them the satisfaction of being bothered!

I understand how you feel having gone through the same sort of thing just over a month ago

I was working at yard being the only one employed there then YO decided to allow this lad to come and work at yard too. He didnt have much money and had two horses he wanted stabled so YO allowed him to have horses on yard in return for work.

YO took alot of my work away from me and handed it to him as he needed to do work in return for his stables.

I was good mates with the lad but looking back on it i know he was only trying to get my work.

I moved anyway as wanted to turn youngsters into field at different yard and had alot of verbal abuse of YO for apparently being ungrateful etc and was told if i wanted to move one then got to move all off them so i went.

I would say your best off not keeping friends with any of them. I wanted to keep in contact with old yard but i found out was better off moving on.


The yard has gone to pot now though as i did have over 11 stables filled with my own and over 20 turned out so he has lost alot of business. And some other girls have moved off after not being happy with how horses are being handled by the lad so his yard is near enough empty.

QR - Not sure of the ins and outs of it but employers are not allowed to make someone redundant and then replace that person with someone else. You can only be made redundant if there is no longer a job for them or for anyone else in that position.
Hope you feel better soon and feel to rant on here as much as you like!

That is exactly right - if an employer makes an employee redundant, they are not allowed to fill the post with a different person until a year has passed and they must offer the position back to the original employee first of all. Of course, I know a lot of equine jobs don't necessarily employ people in the same way ie cash in hand etc and so can get round rules like that, or by changing job titles and descriptions they can sometimes get away with it, but if it did bother you it might be worth looking in to
