Just a warning: this is going to probably all sound really silly and ridiculous on my part but here we go.
I just got back from the yard. My dad was picking me up and was in a hurry to drop me home as he's going out, so asked me to be ready ASAP.
I had a great ride, Cash was so good (as opposed to yesterday when he just seemed to be having an 'off day') so I was very pleased.
As I was getting off he put his head down and foot over rein..cue head coming up and broken rein...grrr. My fault I know as I should have held on tight to the reins as I got off...such a silly mistake that will now cost me the price of new reins
Luckily it was very quick so Cash was not panicked and mouth not sore or anything.
Then I was putting his bed down with him tied up outside a couple of doors down, and as I came out of the stable, I dropped the fork. Cash spooked, broke away and then went running round the yard, panicking because the rope was swinging and hitting him. Got him caught after a minute or two and calmed him down. By this point I was running v late, and had to basically chuck him in stable with hay and leave, after asking someone else to put his rug on (he was a bit wet coz I'd hosed him down) and give him his feed a bit later, and just check that he settles down.
It sounds really stupid, but I feel really bad particularly as I've only had him a month, so still settling in and he's a bit of a stresshead on the ground at the best of times- he wasn't exactly upset once in his stable and when I had to go, more worried and a bit startled
Annoyed that I wound him up by rushing, and then left him when I should have stayed and been nice to him for a bit.
Like I say, this is a ridiculous post, and I'm happy for you all to tell me what an eejit i'm being, but just feel like I messed up when I've been trying for the last month to get him calm and happy in the stable and on the yard.
