a bit of a pointless post really , my horse just just fallen over while running around the field, you no when they go all the way down behind now im upset just in case his hurt himself on the inside and i cant see it , told you all a bit pointless really , xx

It can be scary when you see them fall over. My pony did this last winter - had a yee ha round the field and then fell over, but she picked herself up and carried on.
As long as he seems okay, isn't lame or stiff, then the chances are he'll be okay.
Before I bring mine into full time work, I get a chiro out (usually in Spring) just to get everything realigned.
As long as he's happy in himself, then I reckon he'll be okay. :)

hi thanks, he did get back up right away but like you said its not nice to see them go over , i am going back to check on him later . x x

Its a bit of a shock seeing them go down, but they are idiots at this time of year. When my youngster has been on the yard, she can't wait to get back and find her mates. I stand at the gate shouting' And... WALK'.She does til she thinks she's out of sight, then she goes off across the ice, bouncing like Tigger :)
Chances are your horse is fine, if you've checked him over and he seems happy enough.

Sorry to carry on my own problem today with this thread but i do not know how to make a new post, can some one help out?

Anyway my problem today was after i had finished riding my lad just walking for 45mins, he never rolls in the box after being ridden, but today when i got him in the box he started pawing the ground and rolled once and then actually just lay there for a minute then got up then walked around wanting to roll again, pawed the ground, wasnt his usual where is my snack self, i was worried he might have colic then after 15mins he had a good fart, a long pee, drank water and started to eat his hay, but honestly when you saw him before rolling his actions said "i have a sore stomach" and there was a bit of gut sounds not a lot though. Any thoughts you knowledgeable people out there? He has been fine since then no other signs. Sorry figgy for jumping on your post.

Top left hand corner on the new lounge home page- 'new thread'

And I would watch it, and if in doubt get the vet out- it may have been uncomfy due to trapped wind, or it could be colicy- if in doubt, get your vet out

If he's been fine since, hopefully you're all in the clear

ok i am crying now , just been out and one back leg is a little thick running down the back of his leg and he is resting the other , he is on two pain killers a day for his teeth at the min is this really going to mask everything or if his legs that bad he will be lame . please help

Oh bless...I've just recieved my invoice for the repairing of the fence after Charlie mullered it....he slipped fell and skidded going underneath and taking the fence with him.....not a srape on him mind, a bit stiff the next day though...not that he'll learn!! :)

The pain killers could mask some of the soreness
If you are worried phone the vet
Sorry impossible for us to diagnose on here

My horse has certainly done what yours has done and worse---seen him somersault get up and carry on cantering and got away with it although he did have a ''niggle'' after the icy weather last winter so think he jarred a hock after slipping in the field.

Figgy, try not to worry, as everyone has said, they fall over far more than we know, the first time my numpty fell in the field, he just sot of sat there looking around, almost like he was hoping no one saw him. After his jaunt under the fence he was a bit stiff down one side but a day relaxing and gentle walking out in hand soon saw him good, just keep an eye on him, but rest assured it probably won't be the last time!! :)

Yeah try not to worry too much. If your concerned you can always get the vet, he or she wont mind.

It can be horrible seeing them go down. I cringe everytime my mare walks into something or goes loopy in the field, she's pregnant. It is hard to see it and not worry but i do try keep in mind that they probably do it a lot more when we're not watching.

I know exactly how you feel, really do, as I've winced so many times watching mine out. But you have to ask yourself - what can you do? You can't cover them in bubble wrap and as my vet says to me - sometimes they break. But you know what, they fix too - so even if he has hurt himself it's not to say that it's going to be anything long term or dreadful.

If his leg is still up tomorrow and he looks lame, get the vet in. Expect him to be sore though as you would be if you had a nasty fall!

You know, I have made a pledge with myself to not worry so much over the horses in 2011. I do the very best for them that I can, and the rest really is in the lap of the Gods. Please try not to get upset though.

Join the club, beggining of summer brought a exracer who i knew before he was sold to this woman, in the 2 months she owned him he was a wild crazed wreck, finally home but couldnt do much with him when lunged he went so fast he had a full wipe out and when in a round pen with me he reared up went down on his quarters... scary but sometimes theres just nothing you can do.

If you're worried, get the vet. I have my vet's number on speed dial on my phone. The receptionists know my voice before i say who I am (somewhat worrying as it's quite a large practice!) and they even know that mine will have either fallen, tripped, or been kicked - they don't have to ask.....it will cost money, but if it puts your mind at rest, then surely that's better. I would say that if your boy has walked in from the field, then the chances of something being broken are fairly minimal - more likely that something is pulled or twisted, a bit like we would do if we were running round and then did a somersault...good luck. Keep us updated. x
