I have my pony on grass livery behind my house. Just saw the other person who shares the field moving her mare into the other field. Went to see if everything as okay as my pony was getting stressed out. Got a torrent of abuse!

She said she was moving her because I wasn't contributing towards hay, but for a week only I put hay in and I'd offered her some cash! Plus her horse is TB, mine is welsh sec a so hardly comparable appetite.

Then she said my pony wasn't fat (DAEP and vet both say he is), that she didn't get to 53 to not know a fat horse from a thin one and that she has been feeding him!!!!

I walked down to the field owner's house to complain but the woman's son watched me right down the drive-way so I diverted onto the footpath instead.

I felt very threatened and was left shaking. I keep a pony for pleasure and today every scrap of pleasure was taken out of it.

Phoned the field owner to say if she doesn't leave I will (I've been there over a year, she's been there less than a month). YO says it's nothing to do with her.

I'm really contemplating either loaning or selling him.

Don't let one lunatic get you down!

Get onto the blower for other places to go, you certainly do NOT want to deal with that! Woman sounds like she has a bug up her ass about something, thats for sure.....I know it's handy having the field right there, but often the grass does grow greener elsewhere....

At least now she has moved fields...:D

You can see then that you feed your pony and not hers, and then it's entirely down to her!

Anyone who can back you up if she keeps at you?

I HATE pathetic yard owners without a spine! If my liveries kick off, they know what wil happen!

Well, my partner wants to tell her to back off but I think he'll just get yelled at, too - not worth it. And I don't want to reduce myself to her level. There are no other liveries at the mo.

I'm really disappointed with the YO - I've been a good livery for over a year and considered it a very long term arrangement - she would have had thousands from me. This woman could be gone next week (she has 4 horses at 4 different yards!).

I might get better facilities elsewhere too, in terms of restricted grazing for fatty.

The long term aim is a couple of acres of my own... but that's not much help right now.

Id as the saying goes put it down to experience and vote with my feet and Id also tell the field owner that if the other livery moves off to give me a ring. Dont let it make you give up though. Unfortunately there are some pretty nasty pastys in the horse world we run a yard so have met our fare share and wouldnt stand for what has just happened to you but when I was a livery I had similar experiences so now wont stand for it.

Good Luck and Im sure if you have horsey friends or put on here what area someone could recommend a nice place where you will have nice people for company and nice horses for your pony to make friends with.

The haying the fields business is causing trouble all over the country. Don't let it worry you, especially as your field is behind your house! How fab is that!

What you could do, and what I have done, is split the field with electric fence so that feeding can be done individually. The TB will need more hay, but the welsh will probably eat more hay faster, so in my opinion splitting the field would be the best option for both owners and horses.

:)

There is a place a couple of miles away I could try.

It's ironic... I chose a field (rather than a yard) for the peace as I'd been on some bitchy yards before... and then this!

Seems weird the idea of having to get in my car to go to him... let's say I've been spoilt having him behind the house for over a year! I used to catch a bus then walk at 6am in the morning, once.

Well she's moved her into a separate field now...

I'm just concerned that the secret feeding will continue and that's likely to blow his feet off! If my vet or trimmer found out...!

I could, however, section him into the corner of the field nearest me, so that she couldn't easily chuck feed over the fence.

Don't give up - been in this situation earlier in year the other person (sorry but I couldn't possibly say lady) made me feel so crap I wasn't enjoying my horses - till one day I'd had enough and asked her to move her horses (as I was renting the field as the owner wouldn't rent to her) after a few nasty text messages it's actually the best thing that is happened.
I would say if you can split the field and have nothing to do with her. And do as I'm doing bid your time and wait till she upsets others and gets out of your life and area:rolleyes:

I wouldnt move if you are happy with the field it is in a good place near home easy to keep an eye on and check on your pony.
If she is complaining about the pony eating her hay and moving horse to stop this i doubt she is going to be doing much secret feeding, the best thing to do is just carry on as usual be pleasent people find it harder to rude to you if you just smile alot or just ignore her this is why i have my own place i would probably throttle someone otherwise.

Dont let one person spoil your enjoyment of your pony.:)

i wouldnt move either it suits your needs, just tell this 'lady' in writing that the horse belongs to you and her diet is monitored by your vet. You would appreciate it if she did not feed your horse without your prior consent. send it recorded. Say you dont wish to cause offence etc but it is your pony and yours to do as you like.

dont let one nutter spoil it for you! you would be lost without the horse and its not the horses fault, they wont understand why you have sold them on
