My brother got a puppy with his Girlfriend about 6 weeks ago, he paid for him, all his jabs, food, worming ect. We all told he not too as there relationship was never great, the pup was lovely really sweet and when I had him really easy to toilet train. The Gf lets the pup go toilet all over the house (as they dont have a garden, and the letting agent doesnt know there is a dog in the property). They have split up and she will not let my brother take the pup, she is feeding him bakers (uhhh) and doesnt have him insured. He has tried to talk her round but she wont have it, I'm really hoping that she realises that she cant cope with him before its too late and he is ruined. - she would rather have a lie in all morning than walk the little thing, I would be happy to take him on until my brother gets a place as one more to my clan (I have my mums every day in adition to my own). There is nothing I can do as I dont get on with her at all, can I have some relise a pup is a massive commitment and be sensible and give it up vibes please!!!

I know this is a pointless rant but I'm hoping it makes me feel better!

This! I bet she only wants it because your brother wants it, poor puppy tell him to go get it!

If he has paid for it, paid for the upkeep with the jabs, etc then technically it is his. Any judgement in Court would surely be in his favour?

If the puppy was particuarly expensive he should maybe consult a solicitor or if he is not in the position where he can afford one then maybe seek legal aid? I am not sure what the threshold is for legal aid though.

Report the dog as stolen,
tell police where dog is, ask vet for proof your brother is the owner, any other paperwork and possibly even a statement from the breeder saying so also.

Dog is not hers to keep

hope she hands the puppy over. i don't understand why not having a garden means the puppy should mess the whole flat :( hate how some people just want a dog for the fun stuff like hugs on the sofa and playing, but not fro training and walks early morning and late night. too many advertised on sights like preloved because of relationship breakups.

I know totally agree with this, unfortunatley she isnt the nicest person and only wants it as my brother does, I will report her to the letting agent, however my brother needs to get some stuff from her which if he reports her she will make his life very difficult.

I'm preying she comes to her senses, he was only a £50 Jack Russell but he is the sweetest little thing and I really want him to have a nice life! (I have tried to talk to her in the past about issues and she swore and hurled abuse at me so I will have nothing to do with her- cherming girl)

When your brother goes round to collect his stuff, he takes the pup at the same time. Simples.

Be careful re the letting agent as presumably your brothers name is also on the agreement.
