My boy is still poorly, not interested in food/life :( vets been ruled out all the basics (teeth lameness etc) done 2 lots of bloods and there was only a very small change meaning a very slight chance of a virus. the vet took bloods for cushings and we should get the result in a week. we have discussed everything, and its a case of wait and see now. i just feed useless he seems so sad and i hate him not eating and losing weight :(

sorry very self indulged post just don't know what to do with him anymore.

:( poor thing, it sounds altho you are doing everything you can though. If it is any consolation one of ours has had a couple of viruses and we thought he was a goner, they can be really nasty. fingers crossed for you.

My friend's horse had something that sounds very similar - depressed, stoppped eating etc. It turned out she had some kind of virus and she was back to normal in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed the outcome will be the same for your boy x

A horse of mine was very poorly; dying in fact, and he was found to have gastric ulcers. His bloods showed very high elevations of both chronic and acute inflammation. The vets thought he had a malignancy but that was 18 months ago and after treatment he is well again. Just a thought.

While you're waiting for the results, spend time with him. Spoil him rotten, brush him. You obviously care for him deeply so keep your spirits up for his sake.

Don't feel useless, you really aren't.

:)

thanks guys he is spoilt rotten to the core bless him, have discussed gastric ulcers with the very and it seems unlikely given his diet has always been high fibre low cereal for the past 5 yrs. but i'm sure its something we will check if theses test don't show anything up. he has a slightly chronic inflammation rise (if i remember rightly) but not acute.
