A huge well done to you. So happy for you and love the photos!

Thank you! I'm very impressed with the OH's pics, might have to turn that last one into a siggy :)

Well done - you did it! :smile3:
If you want company (not sure where you are in the county?) drop me a PM :)

That would be amazing! Will send you a PM now :)

Bet you can't wait to get back on again now :D

I'm already looking forward to tomorrow :)

aah poor you It is always scary getting on a new horse even if you are a confident rider, it takes time to fully trust a new horse and they must feel the same as us. It is better to get on as soon as you can or if you are really too nervous why not let someone who is confident ride him first and then you can just hop on for 5/10/mins. Take your time just ride him for short periods until you trust him. Good luck let us know how it goes.

update! have now just seen the photos.. he is gorgeous!!! well done you :)

Thanks so much for this. I've always figured that other riders just get on with it and it's just me that stresses out about the "what ifs". It's nice to know that even the more confident of riders are apprehensive when riding a new horse.

Fabulous! Love coloureds! That last pic would be a great signature. :smile3:
I was thinking that earlier but have no idea how to add a signature.

Thanks! I was amazed how quickly my nerves disappeared once I was in the saddle :)

Nice looking horse

He is a rather handsome looking chap isn't he? :D

Right, quick update time.

So I didn't get a chance to ride yesterday as it was pouring with rain all day and despite begging the OH to go pick up the LW turnout I'd had put aside at the local tack shop he just couldn't get out of work to collect it :( so I sulkily poo picked and laughed as my boy rounded up the loose chickens that had escaped their pen.

Even though I didn't ride I felt like we'd turned a massive corner as I was no longer treading on egg shells around H and instead was just treating him like a normal every day horse.

Today however was a different matter. I could have easily wussed out when _GG_ PM'd me to say she'd need to reschedule her GG2B torture session, instead I dragged the OH up to the yard for a quick schooling session.

H was in a lazy mood from the get go and even walking from the field to the yard was a battle of wills. We quickly tacked up and despite a bit of fidgeting when I went to mount (that alone would normally leave me a jittery mess!) I hopped up, tightened the girth and away we went.

We did a lot of trot work tonight which H tried to evade with a cheeky buck or two but quickly learnt the more he misbehaved the more he'd have to work and I finished the session with the biggest grin :D

I know we've done nothing special but I'm so chuffed with how we're getting on so far considering the thought of riding last week made me want to cry.

You've done an amazing job. Well done. I am so sorry I had to rearrange...I feel so awful about it. Positive is it's my first order but if I can get a few cakes at that value a year, I'll be happy as larry.

Sounds like you are getting your mojo back...this makes me very happy for you :)
