Got up at half 5 this morning to ride in the school as the sun rose. (first time to ride in the morning before work - normally try and ride afterwards with a pathetic little flood light in the pitch black)

I checked the consistancy of the school last night (prone to flooding and soggyness) and checked the weather forecast before setting my alarm.

Got up bleary eyed and struggled into jodphurs - caught the 2 boys who were surprisingly willing at that unearthly hour, they probably thought I was time for 2 feeds a day!

Tacked up the 3 and a half year old and walked him round the school inhand to make sure there was nothing spooky as it was still pretty dark.

Got on and warmed up, he felt amazing! moving freely and lovely and foreward going (first time in ages as he has been going through a "sticky" stage and prone to a bit of bucking) ended up going a little leg yeilding along the long sides (first time we've introduced that aid!) FELT GREAT :D:D

So i am a little smug today as while others were snuggled up in bed I was riding my youngster and he was AWESOME!
I may have to ride early mornings more often! i think he's an early bird :) :)

Tell me whats made your day today?!?1

What a great way to start your day. My days is always made by spending time with my horses, they never fail to make me smile. Had a lovely hack out, the weather was so nice early on.

:D still feeling pleased with myself and baby horsey!!
Although I havnt managed to ride again since and the Scottish weather has spoilt all my fun AGAIN!
Another great thing about riding in the morning is that it sets you up for the day - I thought I would be tired after getting up so early but I actually had more energy. Long many the riding in the morning continue - soggy scottish weather permitting (Although i'm not a fair weather rider my flooded school does scupper things slightly!)
