The decision was made to put B down last week, and it has been the longest week ever. I keep changing my mind, I feel awful, I really wish that this decision wasn't up to me. :(
Vet is coming at 9.30, I have to be there as no one else will. I feel so guilty,

I have some photos of his summer with me...

I decided to plait him up for fun, as I wasn't sure if he had ever been plaited before. He enjoyed the attention.

And doing what he does best...

Sorry to hear about your horse but for whatever reason you have decided to have him PTS it is obviously the best one for him.

Be strong and remember the good times you've had. (((((((( hugs)))))))

I don't know any history but just wanted to say I hope it all goes well today and to send a virtual hug. It's such a tough thing to have to do but stay strong. X

I'm so sorry but no need to feel guilty - you are taking what is the last responsible unselfish act we can take for our animals and I applaude you for that. Love the muddy pic of B in time you will remember the good times like those in your pics. So sorry again it's never easy but is the responsible thing to do. Be strong and huge hugs xx

Thinking of you today.
You know you made the right decision, i went through it last year after making decision my boy looked his best and didn't seem stiff typically.
I do know others who made decision then cancelled and next day horse looked bad, its just the way your mind tricks you.
Spoil him with carrots and cuddles. You will be in my thoughts x

Thank you for all your support.
I have to think what's best in the long term. I have had various suggestions off friends who are 'horse lovers' including give him to a dealer to get rid of, or dope him and take him to the sales. Although this is the hardest decision I think in the long term it will be the best one.

Agreed.. Will be thinking of you.. I'm crying writing this as I'm completely reeling from letting mine go..

A kind, dignified passing on is the most honourable thing we can do for our animals..

Have to say I'm horrified and disgusted at the attitude of your "horsey" "friends"..

You are doing the right thing no matter how much your heart feels like its in a wrack.. I wish you rapid peace of mind xx

Don't think much of your 'friends'.

Don't doubt that you are doing the brave and kindest thing for your horse. He will have spent his final days safe and comfortable somewhere familiar to him and will be free from pain.

Will be thinking of your today.

thinking of you today be strong if you dondt mind me asking how come you have to put him to sleep hope all goes ok xxx rip little man xx

So sorry. I read the thread about your horse and you have tried everything. Turning him away for 2 years should have sorted his head out, but there is obviously something going on that won't improve.
You are doing the courageous thing actually - noone wants to pts, but as an owner it is the kindest option than passing from pillar to post with no guaranteed future and risking injury to someone. Just remember it's hard on you but not for the horse. <<<<<<<<Hugs>>>>>>>

((((((hugs)))))))) To you. You are doing whats best for your horse he will understand that.
I understand what it's like to have "horse loving" friends.
I was discussing Herbie with someone the other day and we got into a huge row because I said if anything happened to me or I was unable to keep him anymore I would have him PTS. She was shocked when I said there was worse fates for a horse than ending up as dogfood. :(

At least this way you know the poor horse will never be mistreated. Stay strong and don't listen to your "friends". If you need someone to talk to or just someone to listen feel free to PM me. I know how hard it is to make this desition, but remember it's the right one for the horse.xx

I read and commented on your other thread. You've tried everything you could and none of it has made a difference to the horse. You are taking the responsible course of action. The horse knows nothing about it, so it will be hard for you but not for him.
Thinking of you.

I am so sorry, i dont know the background, but this is clearly a considered response with the horses' needs at the forefront.
You are in my thoughts

The last caring thing that any of us can do for our very special friends is to make sure that they do not suffer. We have to put our emotions to one side and do what is best for them, you are a very brave and caring person who is doing their best for the one they love. My heart goes out to you at this very hard time. Good night and God Bless dear lad, RIP x

He''l be gone now - and I still think 100% you did the right thing. The sad thing is it was left up to you to act responsibly. I know someone else who did what you have done for the same reason. He was likely an excellent horse, just not one for a domestic situation.

RIP lad.

Chin up dominobrown.

Just to add my support message to the rest: hopefully all is over now and your boy is sleeping soundly and happily.

Its hard for the humans, but a happy release for him.

Feel good, not bad. And feel extra good that you did the right thing despite other's lazy judgements.

Hugs from here for you xxx
