Apologies...I feel I need to have a grumble. My boy has just come back from the vets after two weeks on box rest for an abscess and thrush. He is perfectly well again and obviously I am so happy to have him back BUT he's a rather sensitive type and two weeks off has set us back what seems to be two months. Prior to the problems, he was going so sweetly and I was finally beginning to see some light at the end of the winter months. Now, he is a 16.2hh ball of energy who is difficult to control at the best of times. It also doesn't help that turnout at my yard is restricted to every other day so he has had to have the weekend in even though he came home on Friday. All of my friends have been out competing, playing xc and hacking, making the most of the fab weather while I was stuck inside lunging for 20 mins this morning whilst my OH guarded the gate just incase he tried to jump out of the arena. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm in my final year of uni and work is just piling up but I'm feeling absolutely rubbish and just wish he'd never gone away because now it's just another thing to think about. Also, haven't been happy at my yard for a long time, but its so convenient being right on my campus. Will be moving him in the summer though so if anyone knows any livery yards in the Lincs area let me know! Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine much more than I am!

p.s. I realised that I haven't posted anything of Alf man yet and seeing as I can't figure out how to do pics, here is a couple of vids from last summer at home. He's still only a baby and has come on leaps and bounds since I bought him around a year and a half ago. Love him <3

Hope you get back to normal with him soon!

Thankyou! I have to say, he's the loveliest horse I've ever ridden into a fence, so honest and will go on any stride. Hopefully we'll be back over some fences soon!

I think it can help to have a grumble, hope it helped a little at least writing it down here.
Sounds like everything has just got on top of you today, the end of your year will be here before you know it so keep focused on that most importantly, small steps at a time for now until you feel more in control again. Not having decent turn out must be tough as spring is most definitely in the air for quite a few horses I know, chin up

ETS: Oh and your boy looks very smart

Oi grumpy pants - chill out! I know you've had a bit of a set back but you'll be back on top form in no time.

Just think how good he was to put out yesterday after two weeks inside ... compared to when you were turning him out every day when you first had him. Yes? Think of how good that felt and it will be the same for everything else too soon.

Next time we have time off work I will show you how to make an account and upload photos on to here, and then you can bug everyone with lots and lots of lovely pictures!

We will go XC before the year is out, maybe even get the chance to brave hacking to Hoods together ... and Easter with longer turn out is only two weeks away.

Chin up bum face - me and Jacob are here to cheer you up with our useless antics :)

Hmmmm...yes he was good, for him. However, I'm sure in most peoples opinions 'good' doesn't constitute several rears, spinning and bucking despite the 2.5ml of sedaline prior. Bleurgh, I just want to finish and get going with all the exciting things to come in summer. Why did we think it was a good idea to do a degree?!
