Just feel like all my efforts with Blue and Holly are getting me no where. I am actually the worst rider in the world when it comes to dressage. I've had some lessons but i can't afford one every week. I ride them both in a harbridge which is on quite loose so they can't go giraffe stylie but i know when they are working properly because it is very very slack, i also lunge Blue in a pessoa for about 15 mins most times before i ride him.

Holly will go ok in walk and trot without the harbridge but canter is back to giraffe stylie.

Blue just will not listen and goes all hollow without it.

I just feel useless.

I did loads of flatwork with them last Summer, jumped Blue over the Winter and now we're back to flatwork again but i just get so frustrated when we don't ever seem to improve. Holly is like the stiffest welsh cob in the world and asking her to bend results in a tantrum and a rearing fit. Blue will now bend really nicely in walk and sometimes in trot but just can't keep it. IT SUCKS have had a really bad week with them and just wonder why i'm bothering!

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I think we all have days when nothing goes right. Keep at it.

Know how you feel. I've got a good dr coach & a good sj coach & sometimes I wonder why I bother cos I'm still totally poo at riding. Or sometimes I think I'm improving, then I go to an aff dr comp & wonder why I bother getting my horse off the lorry.

Might try to keep some sort of video diary so I can see whether I'm improving or not.

I know the feeling. Have bad weeks never mind days, when I'm convinced that I have ruined my horses, and if I didn't have my instructor to keep me going (sometimes our lessons seem to be more like counselling sessions) think I'd spiral down into doom and gloom.
But then suddenly you will have a good schooling session or a fantastic hack and everything rights itself.
Hope things look up soon for you.
