My get up and go has got up and gone!!

I am feeling so fed up right now!

Is anyone else struggling to find time to ride?? I have a lovely irish cob and he had been out of work a few weeks due to problems with his feet, he is now back on form and last 2 times i have ridden him he was back to his usual jaunty excitable self so i had all these plans to get him fit, clipped him out etc ready to go and it all went down hill from there :(

My partner has different illnesses both of which have started to play up in the last few weeks so has been doctor and hospital visits galore, i work full time as well as care for him and then on top of all this the weather has been rubbish!!!!

I have only manged to sit on my lad 4 times in 3 weeks its do depressing and now the clocks have gone back i am restricted to weekend riding and i am finding it difficult now having to get up even earlier to muck out before work ( usually i love it!!)!

I have been battling depression for a few months and the best therapy is horsey time and i feel like i dont get that at the moment, horses are well cared for etc i go morning and night feed, muck out, bring in, fetch out etc just feel like i am going through the motions and its all to much hard work :(

I want my mojo back!!

sorry about the rambling! Hoping things will improve with my partner soon! anyone else in a similar situation?? :(

I think its a day for heart on sleeves, lol. I've pretty much just posted a similar thread. I have zero motivation to ride and im dreading the winter. If you are feeling like your depression may be coming back or getting worse then I would pop along to the doctor and speak to them about it ... Nowperhaps i should follow my own advise :p

I'm desperatley hoping this is just a blip and I will be back on form soon enough. Sorry couldnt be much help but good luck :)

Have discovered having a rubbish unmotivating time at works helps! Makes me want to go ride! Although this week we are lunging only!

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time Splashnutt1. I have spent many years battling depression and always feel sorry for anyone in the same predicament. Don't push yourself to find riding time, just being with your horse will help counteract this horrible illness. I bought a pony to help me through and it was the best medicine. There is a light at the end of the tunnel really and plenty of help if you can research where to look. Lots of positive vibes coming your way

Its awful isnt it hun? I am usually so motivated but probs over the last 2 year with my partners illness and money worries dragged me down and then i lost my mare which nearly finished me off so i ended up on anti depressants for a while, my horses helped pull me through i now have a lovely new lad but eveything going down hill again and i struggling to get motivated!

Hope you feel better soon hun :)

awww thanks hun, its such a hard illness to deal with, i went from a strong healthy person to an emotional wreck, doctor said losing my mare broke the barrier i had put up against all the problems, also she was my rock so i felt like the world had ended there and then :(

I managed to get myself off the tablets and have a new boy who i love and is my new savior bless him, Just all seems to be going wrong what with worries for my partner etc!

I am trying to stay strong, my partners mum is coming to stay for a few weeks soon so that will help me as she will be with him while i get some much needed horsey therapy and proper time with my boys.

Thanks everyone for your lovely replies xxxxxxxx

I think its common for us outdoorsy people to feel like this around this time of year. Myself and Mum were only just having a good moaning session this morning as neither of us had any motivation full stop.

It's crap advice but we've just got to keep going...

Blimey OP - are you sure you're not me? Excitable Irish cob with foot problem, partner with long-term illness which is currently playing up, full time job...
My boy (who is also reasonably new) has been off work for two months, started coming back into work a fortnight ago and then lamed himself again after a field/fieldmate/fence issue the day after so has now had another fortnight off.
I, too, struggled with getting up to muck out this morning but once I was there, quite enjoyed it despite the pouring rain.
I had a bizarre dream the other night that I was hunter trialling him at an early morning event before work - sure sign that I've not got enough time at the moment.
I have never had "proper" depression so cannot really compare but I do have some idea of what you are going through and I send you hugs and tell you that you are definitely not alone! I'll think about you going through similar problems to me and I am sure it will give me strength - hope it does the same for you.

Mine too! I hate summer riding in the heat and flies, I relish in the cooler and frostier settings. However it's my first winter off medication for almost 5 years. I'm trying not to think about that fact and just keep plowing through and working my boys. I feel fabby when I'm out and about on them, however the getting on is taking some work!

Thankyou so much, its good to know im not alone, we sound so similar lol.

My lad has been back in full work a month and has been told in no uncertain terms not to do himself any damage please ;)

I to enjoyed this morning once i got there and my boys were both happy to see me. I got mucked out in record time and was quite pleased with myself lol.

I keep asking myself why does my partners illness have to flair up now at the busiest time!!! bless him !

Sending you lots of strong vibes hun xxxxx

i also seem to have lost my mojo! i don't mind the cold, but this wet weather has made the yard a bog and i'm not riding in it! I have barely ridden the past 3-4 weeks even when i've had time as i've lost motivation to even manage to tack up. once i've mucked out i cant be bothered and go and slob on the sofa at the weekend, or i'm too tired after work and know soon daylight will be gone after work anyway.
my boy has been on and off lame all summer and now appears to be sound while I have no time! luckily my mare has been ok, but she can be more challenging to hack out alone, and my friend is too busy at work to join me at the mo, with no school i just put off riding her.
Managed to make myself clip today as we actually had a sunny spell at 2.30 and miraculously they were not that muddy.
