So I toke my daughters friend with us when my daughter had a lesson the past two times, friend enjoyed and told her mum. Her mums now gone to stables, booked all private lessons, brought her everything a girl could want to ride in ect. And I feel like she's rubbing it in my face! Saying "ohh we brought the polos, she has a private lesson now, not like I'm saying I'm rich, I don't want people to think that ;)" arghhhhh!! If it wasnt for me and my daughter she wouldn't of even started!

Some people are just like that

Surely the essence of the matter is that another little girl will hopefully get hooked on riding which can only be a lovely thing :)

I know how you feel.

When I was at school and had just started at a new yard (current), I got talking to a girl in my class, I mentioned I rode and she asked for the details, so I gave them to her.
She started going more and more and I was happy for her until she started showing off that she could afford to go every day and I could only afford once a week.
Oh well, I got the last laugh as I now have a beautiful horse and she has all but given up!!

Glad you got a little girl into riding :) you should be happy for her! But the attitude and remarks sound annoying.

Not a bitch at all :p
I'm forever jealous of people who have all that stuff but being jealous won't get you it. So just move on :D

Need to get Taylor something nice to ride in now ;) but so bloody expensive and I'm getting married soon so can't afford anything :(

You know the phrase "all the gear and no idea"? Don't aspire to be one of them! Life's too short to waste it being jealous. When it comes to horses you can buy loads of stuff but you can't buy skill, talent or determination. I frequently smile and shake my head at the deluded mothers who think a £400 diamante encrusted hat will make all the difference!! Just enjoy your time and never mind what other people are doing. :)

That's true, daughter is such a good rider and has an amazing back control. X

I can understand how you feel, it does sound quite tactless of this girl's mum..but I think in all hobbies and especially horses there's always going to be people around with more to spend than we might have and also those with a lot less. You're giving your daughter the chance to ride which is great and to be honest I would have thought children of her age would prefer to ride in group lessons and have a lot more fun. Don't feel bad :)

Ugh that would annoy me too! When I was young this happened with two of my friends. They were both the kind of friends that saw you with something and ended up with the same thing within a few days and they were the same with riding, only showing off that they were allowed to do own a pony days. Both of them gave up riding very quickly, shortly after buying all the stuff.

I don't think you'll need to buy your daughter anything, I bet she'll just be happy to ride :)

I suggest you get on Ebay....I sell my daughters outgrown riding gear.....I would rather sell it for a pittance when theres plenty of life left in them than throw away. Ive sold joddies, joules sweatshirts, show gear.....only you would know it wasnt brand new;) I've bought from there as well....outgrown kids stuff like new but for a fraction. Don't see the point of spending shed loads.when they grow so fast

Don't let it spoil things for you and your daughter...as long as you are enjoying yourself don't get hung up on what other people do or have...its a waste of emotion.:)

I think many of us might have a jealous moment in that situation, but you will move past it pretty quick I am sure :)

I'm going to have a look tomorrow when I get paid :), I buy second hand clothes off there anyway for messy play ect lol, x

Funny enough on ebay at thbe moment looking for some xc stuff as son is having his first go this year and also showing kit for myself as being dragged kicking and screaming back into competing. Always find great stuff for the little ones

I know a place that has loads of cuddly ponies jumpers and fleeces for children. Nice bright colours and good quality. All brand new, £4 each. Pm if you want details.

You can get something like that?

I want one.:D

Goodness if you're little girl is only 5 she really isn't going to care! My daughter is the same age and I can assure you expensive fancy gear gets covered in muck, full of holes and grown out of just as quickly as the cheap as chips gear!

The only things ever worth spending money on for a child at that age are a hat and a body protector. Just keep taking her and keep enjoying yourselves, and ignore what anyone else has!

Lol Aarrghimpossiblepony (I can't quote on my phone). You must get one immediately and it will instantly make you the bestest most fabulous rider ever. And, natch, you will be better than everyone else. Tbh I think most of them are faulty. Maybe they need more diamantés :D
