Feeling pretty miffed off

Ouch poor you. Stupid owner. I can't believe some people on this thread. I think that looks horrible, I wouldn't want to be driving round and doing much at all for a couple of days and having a young child must be a real pain. I think the shock of hurting yourself can be quite debilitating, comfy sofa, good movie and chocolate are all recommended.

But what is your YO doing about it? Keeping the horse locked up in the stable is not the answer.

I haven't got a clue as nobody want to discuss it. Had a message sent to me last night telling me the owner of the horses has said she knows nothing about the incident despite being having an on-line conversation on Saturday? I have a feeling I will hear something today.
 
If this horse has injured other people in the past the YO surely has a duty of care to his/her other liveries and must sort this situation out before there is a worse accident.
 
accidents happen, I'm not one for the suing and claiming mentality people have now. however, although perhaps you cannot always help how your horse behaves in the field it sounds like this was an accident waiting to happen, the owner is being incredibly irresponsible, not all horses are perfect to handle, but they need to have manners and respect you and your space, especially when they are big. I think they are burying their head in the sand over this. their horse needs some training on the ground.

hope you have some strong pain killers, looks nasty, my friend managed to cut her finger on a tin can and it took nearly 6 months for the feeling to be restored, as nerve damage- not as dramatic as yours!
 
I would be carrying a driving or lunge whip to the paddock with me to keep this horse away. It sounds just like an accident waiting to happen. I cannot understand the YO not insisting the owner takes some action in training her horse with some manners and respect.

I hope your finger heals quickly what a horrid injury.
 
If all you liveries clubbed together and approacued the YO is there no way a seperate field could be made for this horse? I would hate getting my horse in/out in such a situation.

That is an impressive injury you have there, is toddler still in nappies!?

Yes well the point here is that his own cows injured him. We all get biffed by our own horses but when you are injured by someone else's rude lump of a horse then you are right to be miffed. For me personally I would not allow it to be brushed under the carpet and would go round to see the owner and tell them to get the horse equiped with some manners. It will end up with everyone yelling and shouting at the horse and he will learn nothing from that.

My horse has lovely manners once caught but can be a menace to others bringing their horses in, when I moved to a new yard I myself told the other people to take a stick in and shake it in his direction - end of problem.
I can't believe how many people would rather see a human hurt than teach a horse some bloody respect.
Hope you feel better soon, and may I suggest liberal application of the whip - to the farmer and horses owner that is...
 
Sorry about the finger, big deep voice and bellow next time horse is in your vicinity, it obviously hasnt been shown who is the alpha mare yet, you, its owner, but not it, however the poor thing cannot be locked in its stable for. 4 days, that is terrible, who is feeding it, mucking it out, etc. I ask you to see if this can be changed, it will make you a better person if you do. Hope your hand heals quick.
 
If this horse is a known problem and his barging has injured other people then possibly the insurance you should be looking at is the yard owners, for allowing this to go on before someone is killed.
Fwiw, i wouldnt be happy to put horses in and out a field with this beastie, if i had to id be taking a stck and not hesitating to use it
 
A big horse behaving like that?? Never mind a stick, I would be armed with a cattle prod. I cannot believe how some people let their horses behave, it's not clever and it's not funny...500kg plus of meat on the hoof could kill someone, so stop treating it like a bloody dog and teach it some manners and respect:mad::mad:

He is back in the field again still running between both gates, I now have an infection more painkillers and antibiotics. Other liveries at the yard have taken my accident as a warning that he will kill someone soon.

I have resorted taking my crop to the gate, but not having any luck in bringing my mare in as she's taking full advantage of the grass and I aint traipsing 30 or so acres uphill :rolleyes:
 
Speak to the YO and point out that as they have not/are not doing anything to prevent this sort of accident and this is not the first time an accident has been caused by this horse that you will be claiming on their Public Liability Insurance for injury and loss of earnings. It might focus their minds. ;)
 
Not read the whole thread as I got miffed by the "I'd make a claim!" school of thought. Someone needs to get a grip of this horse's owner and get him trained properly, before someone gets really hurt. The horse would have a much happier life being respectful.
