I wonder whether he’s bunny hopping behind & taking short choppy strides in front?! We need a videoBut even in a 4 beat canter you can clearly see which lead the horse is on in front?
I mean, that's Western pleasure and modern Western pleasure is an abomination regardless of the gait, IMHO.4 time canter, I have never heard of that! Also called a trope, apparently. Just googled it and got a video. OMG, it looks horrendous!
That's the weird western pleasure version. My old Icy could do the most smooth and comfortable four time canter. You could still see what lead it was though4 time canter, I have never heard of that! Also called a trope, apparently. Just googled it and got a video. OMG, it looks horrendous!

Just thought I'd join in today and say that I couldn't even get a canter today and I feel totally deflated.
And tomorrow will pish down and be windy - so that annoys me in advance!
Mine was just being stubborn , he is very clever and knows that if he can't be arsed to canter there's little I can do about it (I'm not 100% physically "right")same - cos it was pish down and windy! Got a few strides then spook spook trot giraffe.
go for a hack tomorrow!
