with any horse that struggles to pick a lead in canter the last thing i would do is ride it in small circles!

i would try on a big curve, probably in a field,
if you get the correct lead, let the horse flow forwards and use himself on that lead, he needs to use that lead to form a habit and get used to the feel so it becomes normal as the other lead

Just thought I'd join in today and say that I couldn't even get a canter today and I feel totally deflated.
And tomorrow will pish down and be windy - so that annoys me in advance!

same - cos it was pish down and windy! Got a few strides then spook spook trot giraffe.

Mine was just being stubborn , he is very clever and knows that if he can't be arsed to canter there's little I can do about it (I'm not 100% physically "right")
He's been such a legend for quite a while now so felt really disappointed in both of us.
