I've hit a bit of a wall with D, I get on and ride her but don't get off feeling like we've achieved anything or improved most of the time. Not unless I've been out and had a specific problem that I've worked on at home.

It was getting me down so I found a trainer I thought was going to help.

Her answer was to stick a bungee on her, and have me push her into it... great, except I wasn't riding with any contact so wasn't teaching her anything except how to work in the bungee.
Yeah, i got a feel for how she should work, but not from anything I was doing. It was all false. I had no idea how to achieve it, or ask for it without the bungee.

Tried to get her to come back and give us a lesson so I could raise this with her and see if we could teach us both the correct way to work without this artificial aid but it turns out shes totally unreliable, difficult to get hold of and impossible to pin down more than 24 hours in advance. She also has a habit of not turning up. Brilliant!

So, back to the drawing board now after some tears of frustration last night and lots of wine!

I need a trainer. Someone who's reliable and will focus on both my riding and her way of going to achieve things. I felt the last trainer concentrated more on her and not my faults as a rider.
Apparently, I've got a pony, with a lot to like with a nice way of going and who really tries for me. I need to do her some justice!

Any recommendations for anyone who will travel to my yard in Manchester. Not far from the Trafford Centre.

Thanks & a muffin if you got this far!!

Dont know your story, so cant really comment. Who was your trainer before? (pm if you prefer) I am from near Warrington so might know somebody that might travel to you.

Haven't really got a story

We bought back my old pony when the owners ran into cash flow problems. Shes a nice mare, but I've never asked her to work properly/correctly before now. Shes capable and willing, I'm just out of touch having taken a break for 4 years!
Only had her back 8 weeks lol.

chin up - i bet you're not as bad as all that! a lot of instructors concentrate on the horse's way of going, with a view that by asking the horse to work harder/better, we naturally end up with a better position etc without making us selfconcious. My advice would be to stop worrying so much and enjoy your horse without putting so much pressure on yourself!

can't help you with finding an instructor though I'm afraid!
