because ive left my boy out in the rain with no rug and some of the other liveries have brought their horses in. He's an overweight sec D who doesn't like to be over rugged, but that doesn't stop me thinking of him all wet and bedragled.

Don't. My boy has been rugless for months, come whatever the british 'summer' may bring. It will help your boy loose weight which is always good, the more overweight they are, the higher the risk of lami. Think of it as being for his own good in the long term.

He'll be fine so don't worry!

My youngster is out without a rug tonight (I haven't got one that fits her

) and I am sure she will still be nice and warm in the morning!

i have a sec d , been unrugged all "summer". she's not bothered. so i'm not. however my 29yr old pony is out and i feel terrible as she hates the rain BUT i cant catch her so what am i to do!!!

Thanks for all your replies, i know he'll be fine and hopefully loose a bit of weight. It's just me being a bit of a wuss.

They really don't melt you know and are not made of sugar.........they are actually horses, and it's July.

mine only came in to save the field and before anybody shouts its 1/2 acre paddock which is for winter spring and summer. so when in rains as in like yesturday then they come in so the ground can dry a bit, as they have big feet and can plough quite well
other wise they would be out

He'll be fine, those Welsh cobs are tuff little nuts to crack, their built for extreme weather conditions, so long as you don't over groom them and strip the oils out of their coats.

He will be fine!! Although it's raining, it is still quite warm out there. Section Ds are designed to be out without rugs!

When my Sec D was out on loan, he wasn't clipped, had full mane and tail and was fat so he was out in the snow in January without a rug! He will be fine.
