Feeling sad , owner wants loan pony back

I'm feeling sad atm
I've had the little pony in my avatar on loan for 4 1/2 years , I didn't want to commit to buying another after having my last horse pts March 2021
Despite the owner living locally she only visited him once, and never kept in touch
Then last night at 7pm I get a text saying she's missing him and wants him back
I said yes come and pick him up then
No point to post, just feeling sad for him as he loves living in the field and has a varied life , sad for his fieldmate who he gets on really well with , and sad for me as I wasn't ready to give up riding but don't want another now
He wasn't well looked after before , has got CPL , and is a quirky little soul
I took this pic today while out walking , can anyone else see what I could see ?

Offer to buy him, there must be more to it why the owner wants him back. But people do want a break from horses and decide to go back to it. She could have called you instead of sending a text

Christmas holidays, bored teenager is my take on this. I bet she changes her mind/loses interest again in a couple of weeks.
Poor you, four and a half years is a long time and it sounds like you have a good bond with the pony and he's enjoyed a good life with you.

Can you approach her mum and ask to buy? Sounds naff for you & pony's needs to be second fiddle to the whims of a clueless teen who's probably just bored

Was it just a single text saying she wants him back or did you have a conversation?
I think there is a big difference between some saying they miss the pony and actually taking it back. Especially as there may of been alcohol involved....
Have a think about what you want, then give them a call.

Really sorry to hear this, to reclaim after so long seems a bit odd and it might be they are looking at an asset to sell or bored teenager said she’s wants a horse and parents said you ve got one already and text was sent. I will cosmically order that they don’t go through with picking him up!

Absolutely, horse riding/ownership in January/February is not for the faint hearted they’ll soon change their minds!!

That's what I was thinking. She doesn't want to ask you if you want to buy him but she's hoping you will offer to buy him. I hope you can both come to a suitable arrangement.
