feeling sad- possible hip/pelvis prob

just come back from vets with 2 year old lab- ongoing visits they were treating for ear infection after weird symptoms- change in behaviour main one.
yesterday his back leg started to twitch, so booked him in today, on examination when both back legs fully extended behind he cried. strange thing tho as he lies like that every morning and still is and had same tests done last week- no problems.

he didn't have any symptoms when single leg stretched out, he is still cocking his legs equally, no lameness or strange gait, still jumping about running around with no issue.
he is in tomorrow with ortho specialist and likely x rays- he did take a tumble mid December but on grass.

any one with similar symptoms- or can tell me its unlikely hips?? vet did say it could be abdomen hence the full stretch causes it.
 
Might just be a trapped nerve or a tweak if he was twitching. TBH if a stranger stretched out my dog's back legs fully he would not be too happy about it either/would make a bit of a racket. Try not to worry in the meantime and hopefully it won't be anything too serious.
 
thanks CC. fingers crossed. i think even if the chap tomorrow says he doesn't think its hips i will get him x rayed anyway.
last week when stretched he was totally fine- but this time he was resisting it and cried- both times he did it. he is a bit twitchy again now so fingers crossed.
 
just quick update-
had xrays done of whole body after vet couldnt instigate any pain reaction I asked for xrays to be on safe side. All clear- so we are now treating hm for soft tissue/deep bruising injury although not sure who it happened.

So far he seems to be a bit better- weirdly only going into hiding mode when i pick up car keys to go out- thinking he may of either hurt himself/aggrevated when getting in or out of car either that or going to the vets and getting knocked out has put him off car journeys for life!!
 
Well glad nothing untoward showed up on the x-ray...hopefully he's just had a tweak or a shock or a scare (you'd be surprised how little can shake them up if they're sensitive) and he is back on the mend soon x
 
thanks CC! he is definitly sensitive!! fingers crossed although not looking forward to a working fit lab suddenyl going from hours of walking to 15mins on lead twice a day!! will be interesting in a few days time!!
 
My lurcher Teasel started to have back leg tremors about 6 months ago. I did go to the vet but I was reluctant to have x rays unless it got worse. We started Water treadmill visits and that helped. However, she recently saw a lovely guy called Gavin Scofield, he does cranial osteopathy and the change has been unbelievable. He has been working on her sacroiliac area and the tremors have stopped.

i was keen for physio/hydro or something but vet wants us to wait the 3 weeks-
he will go after his rest tho to build back up.
he has had no tremors now since wed touch wood.
