Rode my daughters 14.3hh connie Tuesday night as my daughter is full up with a cold and sore throat. I ride him every so often without any issues he's usually as good as gold. We had a few issues at the beginning of the year but had saddle and back sorted and been back to his usual self since. Anyway we moved to a new yard two weeks ago and seems to have been a little unsettled in the school but nothing major. Anyway I was riding round and there were a few jumps set up for someone else who was riding at the time. I had no intention of jumping as haven't jumped for about 20 years since a teenager. Pony was going really well but when I asked for canter he charged full speed at one of the jumps in the split second I had to think I decided to just go with it and try to get over the jump then pull him up, anyway we both made the jump but as he landed he went to the left and I went to the right tried so hard to stay on but couldn't got my right foot caught in the stirrup and badly twisted my ankle. Spent four hours at the hospital but no broken bones and now on crutches. I know it's not the worst injury in the world and I've has worse as a youngster but I feel I'm really to old for this now, haven't been to work last two days and can't drive and have lost my confidence I won't be getting back in the saddle again. On a good point my daughter said what a great jumping position I had :D

It's very sobering when something makes you realise you are mortal:( Give yourself a hug), it could have been a lot worse & often is. Why not just give up the jumping ?

Thanks yeah I realise I was lucky did think at the time I'd broken it and nearly passed out in the school and my poor daughter was crying her eyes out, I felt such a fool. The jumping wasn't meant to happen I gave that up 20 years ago he just took off with me and went for the jump I couldn't think in time as we were on top of the jump in a flash so decided to go with it rather than end up with me on top of the jump, just a shame I couldn't get myself up and in control before he swerved.
