Anyone feel this way? I haven't sat on my horse for almost two weeks now. Not sure what the problem is but have been feeling pretty low about life in general at the moment. I need to start getting him fitter though as have two pleasure rides and a ride-out planned in the next 3 months. I feel so guilty.
How do you motivate yourself when this happens?

I blame the wind and the rain, the lack of sunshine is enough to make anyone feel fed up and gloomy.

Although I haven't been able to ride I have amused myself and the ponies by playing with them; ground work, pole work etc whatever. Spending quality time with them is important. It is just great to be outside whatever the weather.

Also a good time to start to get the old body into better shape. Hip is playing up again, time to tune up and loosen up. :D

You also have the pleasure rides coming up - so go go go have fun and enjoy.

Is your horse the one in the avatar ? is it an Icelandic ?

Sometimes I get de motivated - I dont worry about it.
Im a happy hacker and my mare is quite happy festering in the field , I hop on for a hack whenever I feel like it :D
If its 5/6 times a week or once, shes not bothered.

I think sometimes we put pressure on ourselves - not everyone wants to ride all the time :)

I know what you mean...although I left mine even longer.
Today I JFDI & got on. The intention was to only ride for 15 mins but I enjoyed it so much I did an hour.
I find giving all my tack a good clean, sprucing up the horses & then either arranging to ride with a friend or booking a lesson or comp usually gets ride of the 'meh' feeling

I tell myself I'm only going to do 10min in the arena, if I end up doing more then great, if not then 10min walking is better than nothing. Sometimes I don't bother with the saddle if tacking up seems too much effort. Going on a slow plodding hack off road so you can zone out and relax, or go with a friend so you can chat. All this kind of sounds like you're doing nothing but if the horse needs work its better than nothing. Sometimes taking the pressure off yourself actually inspires you to ride more. It makes you feel better to set a small goal and achieve it than to overwhelm yourself with a big goal, do nothing, then feel bad.

two ways imagine how you would feel if you didn't ride, then horse went lame and you couldn't how annoyed would you be with yourself then??

The other way I find is I MAKE myself ride and boy am I glad I did. Although not having a horse I can ride for nearly 10 months this is unlikely to happen for a long while after my new horse arrives today :D

I fairly often feel like this. I find if i miss a day then it becomes easier to say "oh well another wont hurt" and then if ive not ridden for 2 weeks why on earth start again on a wet/rainy/too hot day.
I somethimes get really stressed about this and feel guilty and angry at myself. In truth though your horse is your hobby and as long as its being cared for fed and watered thats all they care about.
Go easy on yourself- your horse has a far better life than many and wont mind not being ridden religiously x
