Asked YO to turn Rubes out for me today and I will go up after work and get her in. She's out naked, and its just started raining here :( I can't get up til after work to put a LW rug on her and YO is out until 6.

Someone please tell me that my Horse will not melt in the rain! Poor Horsey

Your horse is not made of sugar and will not dissolve in the rain. She will be fine!

I am the cruelest of the cruel, my two were out naked 24/7 all winter with no hard feed, only hay to eat. :D

eta, they are both fit and healthy despite me being so cruel to them!

she will be fine, my horse has not had a rug on for a month or two now and hasnt melted or died or got ill yet he is an anglo arab so not exactly a typical living out type :) and he would certainly tell me if he wasnt happy!

She'll be absolutely fine! She'll just stick her bum in a hedge if it's heavy. It'll probs only be a shower - honestly she wont melt!!!!!!
DON'T WORRY

mines out naked today aswell. Felt awful with how cold it was last nght as I usually rug at night but didnt have time to get up there. It will definatly be going back on tonight as they say we may have a ground frost tonight!!! Its june for gods sake not feburary!

A good fit horse should be able to go all summer without a rug to be honest, even the fine ones, if you see a horse with its head hanging and its body quivering in the summer its often just them flicking the water off, and hey who likes rain, they tend to stand still and close their eyes to the rain.

Just randomly put some locations in bbc weather................

overnight temps - Scalloway Shetlands - 5C
Basildon Essex - 9C
Carlisle Cumbria -6C
Scarborough north yorkshire - 9C
Watchet Somerset (coast) 9c
Exeter Devon -7c
Newquay Cornwayy - 9c

These are lowest temperatures over night, your horses really don't need rugging unless poorly , old.

Just because you would feel chilly stood in a field, doesnt mean a horse would, they are animals not designed for wearing coats, a horse puffs up its hairs and keeps warm like that, if you rug you aren't allowing the horse to grease its coat and become weatherproof.

Sorry for the lecture, I think it makes owners feel better seeing their horses rugged, but why not let them me natural for the summer?

I'm even meaner. B is FAAAT so she is in today on diet rations BY HERSELF though she can see 2 others on diet in next block. I am meanest mommy in the world. She will be in on restricted diet 2 days in each week and most of sat/sun. Soooo mean. I want to go and put her out in the sunshine with her friends but she is so FAAAT that she will knock the jumps down with her tummy if she gets any fatterer!
