Last Thursday I had my horses feet trimmed. She is only 3 so barefooted and was planning on staying that way but her feet have been trimmed too short. She has been very foot sore since the day after her trim. It's only her front feet. The backs didn't need a trim and are fine but the fronts are now warm and sore. I am guessing I am now gonna have to wait on some hoof growing down which is gonna take time. Can anyone offer any advice?

Can you put her on a soft surface or in a stable on a deep bed to make it more comfy for her?

Have you talked to your Vet, maybe bute for a few days would help ease her soreness?

As Faracat says, keep her on a soft surface for a few days and give pain relief if needed. Fortunately, the ground is soft in most areas, so she should be more comfortable shortly. First time a new farrier did my mare, she was trimmed too short as well. I mentioned it to the farrier at the next visit and he took care not to repeat the mistake.

I will speak to vet and see what they say. I am sure it's to do with the trim. This is first time my farrier has done her as I haven't had her long and I think he has just taken a bit much off. He is generally very good and is very supportive of barefoot clients which is lucky as there are no barefoot trimmers in this area. I will be saying to him next time to leave plenty on her .
